Date: 2005 Keywords: game design, HCI, interaction design, input devices Technology: processing Task: The task was to research games in general and game design as an inventor of good interaction. Furthermore, we had to develop a playable game which should develop existing ideas or invent something new. >>> launch eye of the tiger You might need this plugin if nothing happens: Jsyn Plugin |

My Solution: While developing my game, I wanted to come up with a different input device and use sound as an active part. I wanted the game world to be as simple and reduced as possible. It consists of simple geometric forms like circles and squares. I developed a game where the user has influence on the game by clapping his hands. |

Rules: The aim of the game is fairly simple: try to move your ball to the opponents position without hitting the opponents surrounding and moving protectors. After reaching the opponent ("the eye of the tiger"), without hitting a protector, you'll come to the next level, otherwise you'll start over. After moving on to the next levels you'll realise that the protectors increase in number and change their positions at shorter intervals. You move your player ("ball") by clapping your hands. You can vary movement by using different kinds of claps. If you clap loudly your player will move one step further in the grid, depending on the direction of the little dot of your rotating circle. If you clap more quietly the player's rotation will reverse, so you can move further in one direction without waiting a whole turn. <<< back to projects overview |
